The Achievement Academy is seeking highly trained, dedicated professionals who are motivated by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful children.  .

¨ Degreed Teacher with special education backgrounds*- Teachers having an Autism Endorsement is a plus.

Qualifications and/or Training:

¨ Prior Special Education teaching experience.

¨ Experience working with students with High Functioning Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder

¨ Experience modifying/adapting general education curriculum according to student needs and abilities.

¨ Ability to develop lesson/unit plans for all subjects that are clear and allow for different learning styles and grade levels.

¨ Ability to provide education services in varied environments across all subjects.

¨ Enthusiastic, energetic, flexible, compassionate with a passion for and understanding of children on the autism spectrum.

¨ Team player.

 

Instructional Aide -

All candidates must:

¨ Have previous autism-related work experience as an instructional aide

¨ Possess positive work & academic references

¨ Be energetic, creative, intuitive, enthusiastic and flexible

¨ Model the feelings of compassion, acceptance, tolerance and understanding for our students

 

Volunteer Opportunities

 

We appreciate your taking the time to contribute your time and talent.  Your involvement will make a significant impact at our school, and we trust it will be a satisfying and inspirational experience for you as well.

The following positions are available: 

Classroom Mentors - Typically work one-on-one with a student or with small groups of students, to reinforce basic skills in an academic subject (i.e., reading.)  Please send an e-mail to our Personnel Department.

Fundraising Volunteers - Join us in our effort to raise money for our school’s programs and scholarship fund.  Please send an e-mail to our Personnel Department.

Summer Camp Volunteers - Assist Summer Camp Counselors with camp activities:  playing games appropriately - taking turns, good sportsmanship; conversation-based games;  arts & crafts; etc.

 

 

The Achievement Academy is an accredited private school designed specifically for students in Grades 1-9

with Learning Differences and Social Challenges including Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, and Attention Deficit Disorder.
